The Vedas form the core of the Sanatana Vaidika Hindu tradition or the Sanatana Dharma, which includes the foundation for the way of life for all humanity. Dharma is governed by Vedas, which guide all subjects essential to the well-being of society at all times.
Sri Brahma Vidya Gurukulam was established to uphold the Vedic tradition and encourage the study of Vedic scriptures. Educated under the traditional Gurukulam system, our Vidyarthis learn Krishna Yajur Veda. Since we follow the Guru-Shishya Parampara system of education, our Gurukulam is home to students of various age groups. We provide them with shelter, food, and education that is free of cost for the entire tenure of their educational period. Our Acharyas also stay at the Gurukulam.

The Gurukulam was founded on April 14, 2021, at New No. 2/144, Puthugramam, Kadayam – 627415, in Tenkasi District, Tamil Nadu. It began its journey in the serene residential premises of our Managing Trustee, Shri K. R. Sankaran, who graciously offered the space rent-free for this noble cause.

The Trust was established with three dedicated trustees — Shri K. R. Sankaran (Managing Trustee) and Sri S. Kalyanaraman. In due course, two more trustees joined the mission — Smt. Nithyakalyani B. and Sri Murali Sankar H., strengthening the vision and operations of the Gurukulam.

The Trust was formally registered on April 27, 2022, marking a new chapter in its spiritual and educational journey. Around this time, Shri Ganesan S. from Chennai kindly consented to serve as the Guru for Krishna Yajur Vedam and moved to Kadayam to nurture the first batch of Vidyārthīs (students). The Gurukulam began with just five devoted students, eager to immerse themselves in the study of the Vedas.

As the institution grew, the teaching of Shukla Yajur Veda (Mādhyandhina Śākhā) was also introduced under the guidance of Shri Ravi Prakash Mishra from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, a distinguished teacher who previously taught in Varanasi.

Today, the Gurukulam is home to thirteen Vidyārthīs, each pursuing their life’s aspiration of mastering Vedic knowledge and living by its timeless principles.

Rooted in tradition and guided by the wisdom of the Vedas, the Gurukulam continues to serve as a beacon of spiritual learning and cultural preservation.

About   Kadayam

A heading separator design.

Nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats in the Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu — Kadayam is a village defined by its breathtaking landscapes and quiet cultural depth. Sheltered by the majestic Podhigai Hills, this region acts as a natural threshold to the wilderness beyond. Its scenic vista — a vibrant tapestry of emerald paddy fields and swaying coconut groves — captures the quintessential and timeless beauty of rural South India.

The village holds a sacred place in the annals of Tamil literature — serving as a sanctuary for the legendary revolutionary poet, Subramania Bharati. It was here, within the walls of his wife Chellamma’s ancestral home, that Bharathiyar sought refuge and inspiration — allowing the village’s rustic simplicity to fuel his fiery verses. For literary pilgrims, Kadayam remains a destination of deep reverence — a place where one can still walk the same paths as the great poet and experience the environment that nurtured his revolutionary spirit.

Beyond its literary fame, Kadayam is a land of agricultural abundance — celebrated for its world-class lemons and the life-giving waters of the Gadananathi River. Spirituality also runs deep here, anchored by the ancient Nithyakalyani Amman Temple — a landmark of architectural beauty and centuries-old tradition. This unique intersection of natural splendor, historical significance, and spiritual heritage makes Kadayam a truly soulful and unforgettable destination in the heart of southern Tamil Nadu.
